1. Who We Are

Scamanot.com ("Scamanot," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Robert Scott Singleton. We provide a scam-detection and verification service that helps people investigate whether a business, opportunity, or website may be fraudulent.

2. Our Data Philosophy

The most secure data is data that was never collected in the first place. Our foundational principle is radical minimalism: collect only what is absolutely necessary to deliver the service, retain it only as long as required, and protect everything we do hold.

We designed this platform with the understanding that people using a scam-detection tool are already privacy-conscious and potentially in a vulnerable position. Meeting that reality is not just a legal obligation — it is a core part of who we are.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

We do not store or retain the following, under any circumstances:

• Your search queries — URLs, business names, opportunity descriptions, or any other content you submit for analysis are not stored after your report is generated
• Your IP address — beyond what server infrastructure temporarily logs for security purposes (not linked to your identity or retained)
• Payment details — all payment processing is handled by Stripe; your card information never touches our servers
• Browser fingerprints or device data for tracking purposes
• Behavioral tracking data — we do not use advertising trackers, session recording tools, or behavioral analytics
• Third-party advertising data — we display no ads and share no data with advertisers

4. What We DO Collect (and Why)

We collect only what is required to operate the service:

• Account email address — to manage your subscription, deliver reports (if you opt into report history), and communicate service-related updates
• Password (hashed) — stored as a one-way cryptographic hash using bcrypt; we cannot read your password
• Subscription tier and status — to determine your access level (free, Guardian, or Pro)
• Report outputs — only if you are a paid subscriber who opts into report history; stored with your explicit consent and accessible only to you
• Anonymized aggregate usage metrics — non-personal data such as total number of checks run, used to monitor platform health; no individual tracking

5. Cookies

We use only functional cookies — the minimum necessary to keep you logged in and to remember your session. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

If you are referred to Scamanot through an affiliate link, a first-party referral cookie is set on your device to credit the affiliate who sent you. This cookie does not identify you personally, expires after 90 days, and is used solely for commission attribution.

6. How We Protect Your Data

We take security seriously because we have to:

• All connections to Scamanot.com use HTTPS encryption (TLS)
• Our infrastructure sits behind Cloudflare, which provides DDoS protection and a Web Application Firewall
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — never stored in readable form
• Database access is restricted to our backend services; no direct external access is permitted
• We minimize the data we hold so there is less to protect and less to lose

7. Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc., a PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor. Your credit or debit card information is entered directly into Stripe's secure interface and never transmitted to or stored on Scamanot's servers. We store only your subscription tier and billing status.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for commercial purposes. Ever. Period.

The only circumstances in which we share information are:

• Service providers — companies we use to operate the platform (e.g., Stripe for payments, Resend for transactional email). These providers receive only the minimum information necessary to perform their service and are contractually prohibited from using it for other purposes.
• Legal obligations — if we are required by law, court order, or government authority to disclose information, we will comply with the minimum disclosure required.
• Business transfers — in the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information would transfer to the acquiring entity, which would be required to honor this Privacy Policy.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — request that we correct inaccurate information
• Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated personal data
• Portability — request your data in a portable format
• Objection — object to certain types of data processing
• Withdrawal of consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (which we do not conduct). European residents have rights under the GDPR, including those listed above.

10. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or tax purposes (e.g., Stripe payment records). Search queries are never retained beyond the session in which they are processed.

11. Children's Privacy

Scamanot.com is not directed at children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@scamanot.com and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify active subscribers by email. Continued use of Scamanot after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
