How does Scamanot investigate scams?

When you paste a message, URL, job offer, or anything else into Scamanot, it's sent to a Cloudflare Worker — a server-side process that runs entirely outside your browser. The Worker forwards your input to Claude AI for analysis, receives the result, and sends the verdict back to your screen.

Your input is discarded once the result is returned. Nothing is logged. Nothing is written to a database. The investigation typically completes in 10 to 30 seconds, depending on the length and complexity of what you submitted.

Google tells you what other people have already reported about something. If the scam is new, or the operation is running under a slightly different name or domain, you'll often find nothing — or worse, fake positive reviews planted by the scammers themselves.

Scamanot analyzes the specific thing in front of you right now. It looks at the language patterns, the psychological tactics, the structural red flags — not just whether someone else has complained about it before. That matters because most people who contact us have already Googled it first and come up empty.

Scamanot looks for phishing patterns, psychological manipulation tactics (urgency, artificial scarcity, fear), impersonation signals, romance scam red flags, crypto fraud indicators, and deceptive language structures — including things that seem professional on the surface but use classic pressure techniques underneath.

It also assigns a Sophistication Score from 1 to 10. This tells you how polished and coordinated the operation appears to be. A score of 2 suggests a low-effort attempt. A score of 8 or 9 suggests something professionally engineered — which is important to know, because high-sophistication scams fool people who should know better.

Most investigations return a result in 10 to 30 seconds. Longer or more complex submissions — a full email chain, a detailed job posting, a lengthy pitch document — may take up to 45 seconds.

All processing happens server-side. Nothing runs on your device, which keeps your browser fast and your data off your screen history.

No. Our Security Policy explicitly prohibits storing user search queries. What you paste in is processed by the AI and then discarded — it's never written to a database, never logged to a file, and never sold to anyone. This is a deliberate architectural decision, not just a policy promise.

The irony of a scam-investigation platform mishandling user data isn't lost on us. We built it so that storing your queries would be technically unnecessary in the first place. We simply don't.

The AI sees your input long enough to analyze it. Once the result is returned, the conversation context is not retained on our end. We don't store conversation histories, and we don't feed your inputs back into any training dataset.

API calls are made server-side, from inside our Cloudflare Worker. Your input never touches the AI directly from your browser — which also means your API-adjacent data never appears in your browser's network history in a form that could identify what you investigated.

No. Scamanot does not use behavioral tracking, browser fingerprinting, or ad retargeting of any kind. We don't sell user data. No exceptions.

People who come to Scamanot are already in a suspicious, guarded mindset — often because something has gone wrong or feels wrong. Meeting that with surveillance-based advertising would be a betrayal of everything this platform is supposed to be. We don't do it.

Yes. Pasting a suspicious message or URL into Scamanot doesn't connect you to the scammer or alert them in any way. You're submitting text — we analyze it server-side and return a verdict. Nothing you submit leaves Scamanot's servers.

If you clicked a link before you investigated and you're concerned about what that link may have done, close the browser tab and run a malware scan on your device. Investigating the link in Scamanot afterward is still useful — it can tell you what the link was designed to do, even after the fact.

Scamanot is good at identifying established patterns — psychological manipulation, known impersonation tactics, structural tells common to phishing, romance scams, and investment fraud. The more detail you provide, the sharper the investigation.

It is less reliable on brand-new operations that don't yet match established patterns, or on highly targeted personal communications designed to exploit context the AI can't see.

Think of it as an experienced second opinion, not a final verdict. It raises the right questions and flags things worth noticing. Your own judgment — especially when money or personal information is involved — still matters.

Trust that feeling. Scamanot informs your judgment — it doesn't replace it. If something feels wrong even after a clean result, there are a few things worth doing.

First, try submitting more detail. If you only pasted a URL, also paste the message that contained the link. Context matters a lot. Second, look for independent verification — search for the company or person through channels you found yourself, not links they gave you. Third, if money or personal information is involved, wait. Legitimate opportunities don't disappear because you took 24 hours to think.
